Short Course: Advanced Poetry II
4th June 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Building on the success of the Advanced Poetry course that he ran last year, Dr Gregory Leadbetter will introduce both contemporary and historical poems that invite participants to consider the poet’s use of language in depth, and the ways in which the poet’s craft includes that of a critic and a thinker. Class time will focus upon guided reading, reflection and discussion, with writing exercises set at the end of each class, based upon techniques or effects considered there, so that new work can be shared the following week. A course for any writer with an interest in poetry as a fine art, participants will be encouraged to develop their own use of language in relation to the effects they wish to achieve.
